The primary focus of the Mayor's Office is the attention each and every resident receives for their concern. It can be as simple as a missed pick-up of trash, a cable service problem or one of a variety of municipal service issues.

   GOALS:

  • To provide integrity and build trust.
  • To encourage pride and commitment and be responsive to people we work and serve with.
  • To assist residents in need through intervention and programs.

In March of 2006 Mayor James E. Harrington appointed a task force of 9 experts in the local arts, culture, and humanities sector. The Mayoral Task Force on Arts, Culture, and Humanities (ACH) is charged with developing a plan for the long-term health and economic impact of Brockton's cultural community focusing on:

(1) Coordination of institutional efforts in the areas of audience development and economic impact

(2) Working with all available local and regional resources to heighten visibility and awareness of Brockton's ACH assets to areas beyond Brockton and southeastern Massachusetts

(3) Maximizing the positive economic impact on the City of Brockton and surrounding areas through its ACH assets

(4) Fostering the growth of a broad spectrum of ACH efforts in and around the City of Brockton

Chaired by Jerry S. Moore, the Task Force has been meeting to develop plans for the collection of necessary information from all sectors in Brockton. The Task Force intends to provide Mayor Harrington with a plan for the support and growth of the arts, culture and humanities in Brockton by the end of the year.
